About Bellerive

Bellerive is on the Eastern shore of the River Derwent just 5 minutes drive from the centre of Hobart, Tasmania’s capital.

You can alternatively catch a bus from the Hobart interchange in Elizabeth St using a wide range of buses including no’s 601, 605 and 615 and ask to be let off at Stop 8 on Cambridge Road where it is only a short walk into the Village.

The office is located in a building built c1842 which was originally a Police Station and Watch House and is one of the oldest buildings in Bellerive with the original section containing a tiny cell. Weatherboard cells built at a later date can be found behind. The building was also used as the Municipality's Council Chambers, the district library and the Bellerive CIB office. It is now the Bellerive Community Arts Centre and offices of the Historical Society and is listed as a classified Heritage Site.
